Hey everybody! I wanted you to check out this interview that I did with Dr. Paul last fall. He just let me know that this has been the most popular download on his podcast. Check it out and let me know what you think!
You can also check out the other shows he has done at www.liveonpurposeradio.com
I went backpacking last weekend with some of the Young Women in my Ward, 3 to be exact. There were 3 couples who came along to help, 2 from the Bishopric and Jared and I. It was only about a 3/4 mile long, but pretty much all up hill. We got to our destination quickly and began to set up our campsite. We talked as we readied the campfire. I happened to be talking to one of the other women when I said something negative about myself supposedely in gest. I didn’t think much of it until about 10 minutes later I said something else negative about myself. The woman turned directly to me and said, “stop that. You have a problem with your self esteem.” I said, “Thanks!” She then said “now you owe me $100.” We joked about it a few more times during our trip. I had probably listened to this podcast 2 to 3 times before that hike. Her comment really got me thinking about it even more, that’s why I listened to it again today. I really would rather be a support to these young women around me than an example of what not to be an example of. I let my athletic ability surround me in my youth. It was everything to me. Well, I graduated from High School and went on to college and sports were no longer part of my everyday life. I became very depressed. The comments on pride, though not my favorite thing to admit, makes so much sense. It even makes me feel kind of stupid, but I’ll get over it. I really want to be able to improve my feelings of self esteem. I really appreciated the ideas and concepts in this talk. Now the hard part, putting it into practice. Thank you for this podcast
